They make one write "YES" on the place one is to be operated on, and "NO" on the opposing side of the body. For example, if one is having one's left hand worked on one would write "YES" on the left hand and "NO" on the right hand. Since this surgery was on both feet we wrote "YES" on both. And to help in targeting surgeons sometimes draw where they're going to cut. It's important to scribble out mistakes. (next)
